It depends on what you most want to see. Yala is the most famous and offers the best chance of spotting leopards, while Wilpattu is larger, quieter and great for leopards and sloth bears without the crowds. Udawalawe is the top pick for guaranteed wild elephants, and Minneriya is unbeatable from August to September for 'The Gathering', when hundreds of elephants meet near the reservoir. Tell us your priority — leopards, elephants or fewer crowds — and we'll recommend the park that suits you best.
Yes — Yala National Park has one of the highest leopard densities in the world, so your chances are very good, especially in Block 1. Sightings are never guaranteed in the wild, but early-morning and late-afternoon drives during the drier months give you the best odds. Our experienced safari drivers know the leopards' favourite spots and stay in radio contact with other trackers, so the moment one is sighted we head straight there.
The best times of day are early morning (around 6 am at park opening) and late afternoon, when animals are most active and the light is beautiful for photos. Seasonally, the dry months concentrate wildlife around water — roughly February to July is ideal for Yala, while Minneriya's elephant gathering peaks from August to September. We'll match your safari date and start time to the park you choose so you get the most rewarding drive.
Absolutely. Every safari we arrange is private — your own 4x4 jeep with an experienced driver-tracker, just for you and your group, with no sharing with strangers. You set the pace, stop as long as you like for sightings and photos, and shape the drive around what you want to see. Private safaris are the best way to enjoy unhurried, flexible time in the park.
Yes — we include free pickup and drop-off at your hotel, guesthouse or villa near the park. Just share your accommodation details when you book and your driver will be ready at the agreed time, usually very early to catch the morning game drive. If you're coming from further away, we can also arrange transport to the park as part of a longer day tour — just let us know.
